As the Assistant Registrar, your primary responsibility will be to accurately and expeditiously assist with the organizing, processing, documenting and shipping of loans to/from the Museum for exhibition, outgoing loans, and touring exhibitions. You will provide general support to the Special Exhibitions and Outgoing Loans team, specifically related to the Costume Institute exhibit. You will report to the Exhibitions Registrar.

This is a position with an established end-date or time frame. Time frames will begin upon hire: 2.5 Years PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Assist in planning and coordination of shipments of artwork to/from the museum for exhibition Help coordinate documentation, transportation, packing, couriers, and internal staff. Assist in installation and deinstallations.
  • Produce packing notes, create shipping records, compile condition reports, and complete data entry in TMS.
  • Coordinate unpacking and packing with Storeroom One personnel and packers.
  • Support Outgoing Loans team in processing new loan requests, producing reports for the Board of Trustees, and administrative tasks.
  • Archival maintenance of all related files and records.
  • Candidate may be required to work on weekends or after hours to meet shipping schedules.
  • Candidate must complete Security Threat Assessment application.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • ​ BA degree or museum studies program.
  • Two to three years of registrar or related museum experience.
  • Collections Management database experience, especially in TMS.
  • Organizational, written, and verbal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Computer proficiency - MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
COMPENSATION RANGE:

- Pay Range: $72,000 - $75,000 Annually The advertised pay scale reflects the good faith minimum and maximum salary range for this role. The advertised pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage for any specific employee. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.

Visa Sponsorship Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Location Requirements At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states:
