POSITION DETAILS
The Administrative Coordinator will report to the chair of the Department of Architecture in the Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York. This position will provide administrative and coordination support for departmental projects and initiatives, including activities related to new graduate programs, the preparation, execution and administration of new programs for assessment, the maintenance of confidential records, and the coordination of department planning with the dean’s office as well as projects originating from the chair’s office.

This position will provide administrative and coordination support for departmental projects and initiatives, including activities related to new graduate programs, the preparation, execution and administration of new programs for assessment, the maintenance of confidential records, and the coordination of department planning with the dean’s office as well as projects originating from the chair’s office.

DutiesIn addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the duties of the Administrative Coordinator include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide administrative support for program assessment and accreditation activities, including preparing and maintaining documentation required for professional accreditation in architecture and landscape architecture;
- Review, update, and maintain confidential faculty records;
- Provide administrative and coordination support for departmental planning activities in collaboration with the Dean’s Office;
- Support the department chair in administration and operations, provide continuity and preserve institutional knowledge;
- Coordinate and track departmental projects and initiatives, including activities related to community outreach and cross campus collaboration; under the direction of the Department Chair;
- Provide reports and updates on department projects, including potential completion dates and information regarding the progress and effectiveness of new initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Qualification- M.A. preferred;
- Up to two years of related administrative experience; preferably in higher education or an academic environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency with office productivity software;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse academic environment and support the mission of a public institution of higher education.
- Manages basic office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information.
- Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections.
