Position Summary

The Skin Cancer Foundation is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Development Intern to support the Development team with the annual Skin Cancer Foundation Gala, taking place in New York City on Wednesday, May 12, 2027, as well as other development and administrative projects.

This is a part-time, in-person position in New York City, approximately 15 - 30 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. Hours will increase in the weeks leading up to the Gala.

Hourly Rate: $18

What You’ll Do
  • Manage The Skin Cancer Foundation Gala silent auction, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Solicit auction items from local businesses, creating a prospect list and executing outreach.
  • Communicate and follow up with donors to ensure items and materials are received by established deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate tracking documents and records.
  • Write auction item descriptions, research item values and manage the online item listing process.
  • Organize and maintain auction documents, images, certificates, signage and additional materials.
  • Manage silent auction setup, breakdown and on-site logistics.
  • Work with the Development Team to coordinate fulfillment of auction items after the Gala.
  • Provide onsite event support at The Skin Cancer Foundation Gala (taking place on Wednesday, May 12, 2027), including, but not limited to, silent auction set-up and breakdown, event checkout and silent auction fulfillment.
  • Provide administrative and logistics support throughout the planning process for The Skin Cancer Foundation Gala.
  • Assist with creating and designing event materials.
  • Support the Development Team with additional administrative projects and special assignments as needed.
What You’ll Bring
  • Current college or graduate student, recent graduate or individual interested in pursuing a career in the nonprofit field.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong and professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, adhere to deadlines and execute follow-ups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook and Canva is a plus.
  • Previous experience in event coordination, administrative support, customer service and/or nonprofit work is a plus.
  • Professional, dependable, proactive and comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
