Position: Manheim Mobile Vehicle Condition Inspector, Manheim, Albany, NY ($1,500 sign on bonus)
Location: New York

Manheim Mobile Inspector II – a key member of the Manheim Mobile Inspections team, responsible for conducting on‑site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients within an assigned territory.

Hourly base pay range: $18.22–$27.36 per hour. Pay varies by geographic location and candidate experience. Position may also include commission or incentive compensation.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Vehicle Inspection & Documentation
    • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections per Manheim standards
    • Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles safely on dealer lots
    • Verify VIN, mileage, sub‑series, options; ensure accurate system entry
    • Document exterior and interior condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, dashboard, and installed options
    • Perform basic mechanical checks of powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components
    • Identify and document damage, missing components, or inoperable features
  • Client Engagement & Territory Management
    • Build trust with dealers through quality, professionalism, and responsiveness
    • Educate clients on Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services
    • Proactively engage dealers to increase inspection volume and maintain participation
    • Leverage data and partner insights to maximize efficiency and productivity
    • Adapt to schedule changes to ensure effective dealer coverage
  • Reporting, Tools & Collaboration
    • Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports
    • Use  for reporting, lead management, and performance tracking
    • Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists and other teams to support client success
    • Contribute to continuous improvement and lean initiatives
  • Safety, Compliance & Standards
    • Maintain production expectations set by leadership
    • Follow safety and health procedures; commit to safety initiatives
    • Comply with Manheim inspection standards, including NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy
    • Perform additional duties as assigned
Mobile Inspector – Level 1

Summary
:
Entry‑level role focused on learning inspection standards and client engagement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimal automotive knowledge preferred (body and mechanical)
  • 0–1 year of automotive‑related experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to meet physical and mental demands of the role
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct basic vehicle inspections with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Safely move and handle vehicles on dealer lots
  • Accurately document vehicle condition and data in inspection systems
  • Develop working knowledge of inspection standards and client expectations
Mobile Inspector – Level 2

Summary
:
Intermediate role independently managing inspection activity, delivering quality inspections, and supporting growth.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of related experience (other combinations accepted)
  • 1–2 years of automotive‑related experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to meet physical and mental demands of the role
Key Responsibilities
  • Independently conduct detailed and complex inspections
  • Manage daily inspection schedules efficiently across dealer locations
  • Build strong relationships with dealer clients
  • Use data and insights to expand volume and efficiency
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and team collaboration
Mobile Inspector – Senior Level

Summary
:
Advanced role responsible for complex inspections, mentoring peers, and serving as a trusted professional.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED plus 5+ years of related experience (other combinations acceptable)
  • Strong automotive knowledge (body and mechanical) required
  • 2–3 years of automotive‑related experience strongly preferred
  • 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to meet physical and mental demands of the role
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced and high‑complexity inspections
  • Serve as subject matter resource for standards and best practices
  • Support onboarding and development of less experienced Inspectors
  • Maintain strong dealer relationships and inspection quality standards
  • Model safety, professionalism, and operational excellence
