The Mechanic Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the automotive repair shop, ensuring the shop runs efficiently, profitably, and professionally. This position manages technicians and support staff, coordinates workflow, maintains high customer service standards, and helps drive the overall financial performance of the business. Mechanic experience is HIGHLY preferred here. A retired or expert academic mechanic is an ideal candidate.

The ideal candidate is an experienced automotive professional and strong leader who can balance customer service, technician productivity, quality control, inventory, scheduling, and shop profitability.

• Oversee the daily operations of the repair shop and ensure an efficient workflow.
• Assign and prioritize work for technicians based on skill level, workload, and urgency.
• Monitor repair orders from check-in through completion and delivery.
• Ensure vehicles are repaired accurately, efficiently, and according to manufacturer specifications.
• Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and quality of work.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional shop environment.
• Ensure all equipment, tools, and shop facilities are properly maintained.
• Manage parts ordering, inventory, returns, and vendor relationships.

• Provide exceptional customer service and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Assist service advisors with difficult or complex customer concerns.
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding repairs, timelines, and recommendations when needed.
• Handle customer complaints and resolve issues professionally.
• Ensure customers receive accurate information and a positive overall experience.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate technicians and shop employees as needed.
• Establish clear expectations for productivity, quality, attendance, professionalism, and teamwork.
• Hold employees accountable for meeting performance standards.
• Conduct regular team meetings and communicate shop goals and expectations.
• Help create a positive, respectful, and productive work environment.
• Address employee performance and disciplinary issues when necessary.

• Monitor daily sales, labor hours, parts costs, and overall shop profitability.
• Track key performance indicators such as labor sales, average repair order, technician productivity, and car count.
• Work with service advisors and technicians to identify additional needed repairs and maintenance opportunities.
• Help establish and achieve monthly sales and profitability goals.
• Monitor expenses and look for ways to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary costs.
• Review completed repair orders for accuracy and profitability.

• Ensure repairs are completed correctly before vehicles are returned to customers.
• Establish and maintain quality-control procedures.
• Ensure technicians follow proper safety procedures and shop policies.
• Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, environmental, and automotive industry requirements.
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of used oil, fluids, tires, batteries, and other shop materials.

• Must have a valid drivers license and the ability to move cars.
• Previous experience in an automotive repair shop or dealership environment.
• Previous management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance.
• Ability to understand diagnostic and repair recommendations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Basic understanding of shop financials, labor rates, parts margins, and profitability.
• Experience with automotive shop management software such as Tekmetric is a plus.

• Service Advisor, Shop Foreman, Lead Technician, or Shop Manager experience.
• Experience managing technicians and service advisors.
• Experience with digital repair-order and inspection systems.
• Experience tracking shop KPIs and improving technician productivity.

Full-time position, Monday-Friday. Schedule may include extended hours depending on shop operating hours and business needs.

Competitive salary or hourly compensation based on experience, with potential performance-based bonuses tied to shop sales, profitability, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Consummate with experience - 75k-110k per year plus potential performance-based bonuses
