Summary:
The Assistant Manager – Purchase will be responsible for managing and optimizing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for production and operations. The role demands strong vendor management, negotiation, and analytical skills to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery in line with company standards.
Roles and responsibilities:Procurement Operations:
Source, evaluate, and procure raw materials, consumables, and capital items based on production and project requirements.
Prepare purchase orders, contracts, and agreements ensuring compliance with company policies.
Maintain optimal inventory levels to support uninterrupted production.
Identify, assess, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
Negotiate pricing, credit terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost and quality objectives.
Cost & Budget Management:
Monitor purchase budgets, forecast material requirements, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Participate in cost benchmarking and alternate material sourcing.
Coordination & Documentation:
- Liaise with production, quality, R&D, and finance departments to align procurement plans.
- Ensure proper documentation, GRN (Goods Receipt Notes), and invoice matching for timely payment processing.
- Maintain ERP/MIS data accuracy for purchase records and reports.
Compliance & Quality:
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to ISO/Company quality and compliance standards.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
