Position Overview: The Senior Portfolio Manager serves as a strategic link between Italian wine suppliers, marketing, and sales teams. This cross-functional role drives business planning (pricing, budgeting, forecasting) and oversees daily management (sourcing, tactics, relationships) for an assigned portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Portfolio Management, the role demands strong negotiation and interpersonal skills to optimize brand performance across supply and sales channels
Location: New York, New York (Hybrid 4 days in office)
Responsibilities/Essential Functions- Strategic Planning:
- Develop SMART brand strategies aligned with company goals, sales targets, and budgets.
- Contribute insights to Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), and brand strategy processes.
- Collaborate with pricing teams to ensure competitive price positioning.
- Lead sourcing, tactics, and relationship management for assigned brands in collaboration with suppliers, sales, and marketing teams.
- Drive sales execution through national and local programs across PBI, wholesaler, and retail systems.
- Launch new products and portfolios with tailored programming and tools.
- Relationships & Communication:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Italian wine suppliers, sales teams, and distributor networks.
- Partner with marketing and PR to execute and monitor effective brand programs.
- Conduct periodic business reviews with stakeholders to align on performance and goals.
- Analytics & Optimization:
- Forecast and manage inventory to meet market demand efficiently.
- Optimize promotional and operational spending to enhance sales, profits, and cost performance.
- Adapt strategies and tactics based on market trends and performance data.
- Provide leadership with actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration (finance, marketing, or related field); MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in the CPG/wine industry with direct supplier management responsibilities.
- Deep knowledge of the wine import industry and three-tiered system, with a focus on legal compliance.
- Proficiency in MS Office and enterprise planning tools (e.g., Power BI, Cognos, SharePoint); familiarity with syndicated data (e.g., Circana).
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in business process development and continuous improvement.
- Proactive approach to managing workload and keeping leadership informed.
- Fluency in Italian is a plus.

Salary: Range - $130-160k annual:
Actual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, which may include professional experience, educational background, certifications, and level of industry-specific knowledge.
