Position: Lead Product Manager, Grocery & Retail Payments & Merchant Enablement
Location: New YorkAbout the Role
As a Lead Product Manager on the Grocery & Retail Delivery Experience team, you’ll play a key role in transforming Uber delivery into a flawless experience that lets customers get anything they want from local merchants. We must serve the needs of merchants, couriers and customers in order to grow a successful marketplace, fulfilling more orders with higher quality, lower costs, and efficient logistics.
In this role, you will define and execute the product strategy to help Uber perfect fulfillment across all of the different verticals we are adding to the platform, while leading your team to build out a suite of tools for merchants to help them optimize their performance, and ensuring we have the right foundations in place for data integrity, compliance, and fraud.
You will be working with a broad set of cross-functional stakeholders across operations, data science, design, engineering, marketing and more, to deliver a reliable and delightful experience to consumers, shoppers and merchants.
What the Candidate Will Do
The opportunities to evolve the delivery experience for grocery & retail are myriad and we are only just getting started. As a Lead PM, you will have a team focused on three major areas:
Merchant Success, Payments & Fraud, and Restricted Item Compliance. This is a representative sampling of the areas you’ll be leading your team in:
Be a thought leader for ways to ensure merchant success and fulfillment quality on our platformPartner with sales, account management and merchants themselves to determine their pain points and develop tools they can use to understand and grow their business, optimize order quality, and use data to make strategic decisionsEnable the sales of Restricted Items, like alcohol and CBD, in a way that complies with laws around the worldEnsure our payment processes and money flows are accurate & timely, reducing any fraudulent behaviorCollaborate with our regional operations teams to deeply understand the market nuances and pain-points related to fulfillment - and then devising and executing product solutions to solve themInfluence the product roadmaps of many other teams across Uber that work to ensure a healthy marketplaceBasic Qualifications
Minimum 10 years experience delivering successful and innovative products with your fingerprints all over themTechnical savviness. Can manifest in different ways: a computer science undergraduate degree, hands-on software engineering experience, or experiences building complex software products side by side with engineers. Technical understanding must go from the highest abstractions down to the smallest detailsPeople management experience. You will be directly managing PMs and influencing others who will look to you to set a vision and strategy for complex grocery and retail deliveryAttention to detail. The ability to obsess over every single part of the grocery experience - for all sides of the marketplace. Working across different surfaces (mobile, web) and customers (consumers, SMB, enterprise) a plus.Customer obsession. The ability to take on complex product challenges and find elegant, simple solutions to avoid making them our user’s and partner’s problemsFinger-tippiness with data. You find a way to get the data you need and whip it into an insightful story with no help. You know how to leverage this data to make decisions without getting stuck in analysis paralysisA “Driver” mindset. B2B and/or financial products experience.Fulfillment and/or Marketplace experience.
