Responsibilities
- Provide parliamentary support for the Legal Operations Department with contract drafting, negotiation, and administration for the 1199
SEIU Funds. - Identify inconsistencies in contracts and deviations from the Funds’ required/preferred contract terms, propose/draft contract language and elevate potential risks or discrepancies to Contract Supervisor.
- Timely review requests for fund‑accurate contracts, including but not limited to using the Funds’ approved templates and reviewing/analysing requests with the contract process to ensure full execution.
- Review and revise vendor contracts (focused on hotel/event, professional consulting, training program, and facility operations/services) to meet Funds’ policies, procedures, and contracting requirements.
- Communicate with internal business owners and grant/advocacy contract customers and terms, grants, and conditions, with contract follow‑ups under the contract process.
- Conduct targeted legal and regulatory research to support contract negotiations and ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry standards.
- Accurately submit contracts and documentation to the review system, providing backup coverage for the signature coordinator role in contract approval and execution.
- Prepare monthly and annual contract reports and metrics to identify trends and generate ad‑hoc reports for strategic decision‑making.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Legal Operations, the Fund’s Procurement teams, and Internal Compliance, ensuring timely and accurate responses for executed contracts.
- Perform administrative duties and projects as assigned by management.
- Bachelor’s degree required, Paralegal Certificate required.
- Minimum one (1) year contract review experience, knowledge of grants, ERISA, and legal contract terminology.
- Experience with full contract lifecycle, including drafting, negotiation, execution, and renewal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of web‑based applications/software; familiarity with e‑signature platforms (Ironclad, Dropbox Sign, Docu Sign, Adobe Sign).
- Experience using a contract management system preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to handle privileged, confidential, and sensitive information in accordance with applicable Fund policies; experience reviewing/negotiating data privacy terms (HIPAA, PHI, PII) in vendor contracts preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, record keeping, attention to detail, and time‑management.
- Proactive, organized, and able to multi‑task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information and issue spot‑checks.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
