Job Summary & Objectives

The Banking & Credit (B&C) Training and Strategic Initiatives Manager will be a member of the Legal Talent team and a vital resource for developing and delivering high‑impact training to support the growth, development, and excellence of associates in the B&C practice. The manager will also work on discrete and topical projects within the B&C group, combining subject‑matter legal expertise in banking and credit transactional practice with the ability to design, deliver, and evaluate training programs tailored to the development needs of associates at all levels.

Responsibilities include staying informed of market and legal developments, collaborating with practice group leadership, partners, knowledge management, and cross‑functional teams to align training with the practice’s strategic goals, and driving relevant strategic initiatives.

Job Duties & Responsibilities Training Needs Assessment and Curriculum Development

Identify practice‑specific training needs aligned with the substantive legal skills and knowledge required at each level of associate development (junior, mid, and senior). Develop and maintain a dynamic curriculum tailored to each level, continuously evaluate and update it to ensure relevance and alignment with market trends.

Content Creation

Create training content for in‑person, virtual, and on‑demand delivery, including case studies, templates, practical exercises, slides, and facilitator guides. Embed practice‑specific tools and technologies, develop content for client CLEs as needed, and design simulations that encourage active problem‑solving.

Training Delivery

Co‑facilitate live trainings with Partners and Associates, supporting interactive exercises; deliver 1:1 or small‑group training for targeted development, focusing on lateral hires and associates with identified needs.

Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing

Collaborate closely with the B&C Practice Group Head, partners, associates, and members of the Legal Talent and Knowledge teams; serve as a subject‑matter expert and trusted source of knowledge within the B&C practice.

Training Evaluation and Legal Awareness

Measure the effectiveness of training through feedback surveys and other metrics; stay informed about changes in law and market trends, incorporating updates into training content as appropriate.

Education

JD with 6+ years of related experience in a law firm.

Skills and Experience

6+ years of B&C practice‑related experience in a large law firm; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to build professional relationships while maintaining confidentiality; collaborative approach; strong interest in professional development; ability to self‑direct, manage multiple priorities, analyze needs, and implement solutions; strong organizational skills; highly motivated, proactive, and driven self‑starter. Must be team oriented and willing to contribute to unexpected projects.

High proficiency with all MS Office Suite products.

Physical Demands

Mostly sedentary work; occasional lifting up to 10 pounds. Requires sitting for sustained periods.

Work Environment

Typical office conditions with normal light, air, and space. No significant exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

NY Only:
Estimated base salary range $200,000 to $275,000. Actual salary offered will depend on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and location.
