The Team:
The Partnerships & Solutions group at S&P Dow Jones Indices (SPDJI) is seeking a Director-level Relationship Manager to lead SPDJI’s engagement with the investment consultant community in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. This team operates with an enterprise perspective, proactively connecting current activities to the wider vision of the organization. - Lead the firm-wide investment consultant engagement strategy to drive commercial growth, expand access, strengthen brand recognition, and increase the adoption and integration of SPDJI indices and data solutions within consultant research, due diligence, and asset-owner recommendations. This includes owning the strategy and senior relationships
. - Act as the primary relationship manager for investment consulting firms, ensuring overall engagement outcomes and managing data contracting and renewals. You will represent S&P DJI externally as a subject matter expert, feeding insights back internally to inform messaging, marketing, product development, and service improvements.
- Provide credible index advocacy and technical expertise
, explaining index mechanics, differentiating versus competitors, and supporting consultant RFPs/DDQs. Your ability to articulate market trends and deduce solutions with multiple sources of input will be crucial in this capacity. - Drive measurable commercial impact by increasing consultant adoption of S&P DJI indices and data, translating consultant insights into revenue opportunities, and demonstrating influence on AUM, asset flows, new mandates, and benchmark recommendations.
- Partner cross-functionally and collaborate broadly with institutional sales teams (Asset Owner, DC, Asset Manager), Product Management, Index Investment Strategy, Client Services, and Marketing to align themes, messaging, and execution for investment consultants. This role leverages networks across functions and senior leadership to ensure strategic alignment and buy-in.
- Build and manage a strong consultant influencer network
, maintaining disciplined CRM practices for pipeline/lead generation and account planning. You will execute consistent outreach and thought leadership through seminars, webinars, and conferences with aligned messaging. - All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
Base salary range: $120,000 to $240,000. Final base salary will be based on geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
Eligible for an annual incentive plan and additional S&P Global benefits.
QualificationsBasic Required Qualifications
- An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 12-15+ years of experience in institutional relationship management, business development, or client leadership within asset management, index/data providers, or related financial services, with a proven track record of measurable commercial impact.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain senior relationships with institutional investment professionals (e.g., CIOs, Heads of Research, Portfolio Strategists) and influence decision-makers across complex organizations, fostering consensus across groups with competing priorities.
- Strong understanding of the institutional investment process including asset allocation, manager research/due diligence, and risk frameworks, as well as how active vs. passive approaches are evaluated and implemented. You will be expected to use in-depth professional knowledge to monitor external trends and consider multiple scenarios.
- Proven track record of developing and executing a multi-stakeholder client/segment strategy
, translating it into coverage plans, account priorities, and outreach cadence. - Exceptional executive presence and communication skills
, with the ability to adapt communication style to different situations and effectively present externally (conferences, seminars, association events) to technical and non-technical audiences. - Ability to operate as a strategic and hands-on leader
