Operations Manager, Supply Chain / Intl. Trade
Position Summary
The Material Specialist position is responsible for executing day-to-day activities in support of warehouse operations including inventory control, issue management, receiving, transfers, chemical inventory, and equipment and tools. The role ensures inventory accuracy through physical and chemical inventory processes and oversees safe movement and handling of maintenance materials within Duke Energy Facilities.
Responsibilities- Establish and adhere to work priorities for material handling processes and systems.
- Communicate effectively with plant management, staff, supply chain site procurement, and site operations to ensure efficient flow of commodities.
- Support the supply chain organization and generation plant operations customers.
- Learn new processes and systems, including MAXIMO and EMAX applications.
- Maintain accurate inventory data and support physical inventory activities.
- Collaborate across teams to coordinate day-to-day operations and maintenance activities within the Power Generation facility.
- High School/GED degree
- Valid driver’s license
- Completion of forklift, safety, environmental and supply chain-related training
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in Windows applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience with inventory systems and/or work management systems
- Ability to multi‑task, prioritize long‑term and short‑term tasks, and adapt to changing conditions
- Demonstrated organizational, time‑management, interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- Warehouse experience
- Self‑motivated and able to work with limited supervision
- Experience with diverse contacts (managers, non‑managers, customers)
- Ability to respond to customer requests effectively
- Experience with MAXIMO and EMAX applications (if applicable)
Onsite, able to work around the clock in all weather conditions, possibly extreme heat or cold. Responsibilities include frequent walking, bending, kneeling, pulling, and climbing ladders. Must be available for emergency call‑out (within 30 minutes) during nights, weekends, and holidays. Work may involve contact with dust (coal, dirt) and fly ash. Requires mobile access to warehouse and yard environments.
Travel and RelocationTravel requirement: 5-15%. Relocation assistance provided as applicable.
