Job Description

Cozen O'Connor is seeking a Director of Business Transformation & AI to play a central role in shaping the firm’s business operations. You will work closely with senior administrative and firm leadership to redesign how work gets done, deploy AI-enabled solutions, and help build a future‑ready operating model.

This is a highly visible, high‑impact enterprise role for someone who enjoys working on complex systems, designing practical solutions, and partnering with senior leaders to translate strategy into sustained operational change.

Responsibilities Process and Workflow Design
  • Design and help operationalize new workflows, processes, and operating models across business operations, in partnership with business operations leaders.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and modernize how work gets done, including where AI and automation can improve speed, quality, consistency, or scalability.
  • Apply structured problem‑solving and process design approaches in complex, cross‑functional environments.
AI Strategy & Deployment
  • Identify high‑impact opportunities for AI and other advanced tooling within the firm’s business operations, particularly in high‑volume and repeatable processes.
  • Lead pilots and full‑scale rollouts of AI and other emerging technologies for business operations, with a focus on strong process design, data readiness, and change management strategies.
  • Assess data availability, quality, and structure as part of workflow redesign and AI‑enablement efforts, and work with relevant teams to address gaps.
  • Collaborate closely with IT and other administrative leaders to define software business requirements, evaluate tools, and support implementation.
Cross‑Functional Leadership & Execution
  • Lead and support initiatives that span multiple departments, serving as a connective force across administrative functions.
  • Translate strategic priorities into well‑structured plans with clear deliverables, timelines, and accountability structures.
  • Work with business leaders to support adoption of new workflows and tools, ensuring changes are practical and embedded in day‑to‑day operations.
Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to long‑term planning for how business operations should continue to evolve to support the firm’s strategy.
  • Monitor trends in legal operations, professional services operating models, and AI‑enabled business processes.
  • Help establish processes, metrics, and governance that support continuous improvement across the firm.
What Success Looks Like

In the first 18–24 months, success in this role will include:

  • The redesign and implementation of several high‑impact, cross‑functional business operations workflows that are meaningfully improved.
  • The successful deployment of AI‑enabled tools that are embedded in day‑to‑day operations, not just piloted—supported by clear ownership, governance, and adoption plans.
  • Strong partnership with senior stakeholders, reflected in clear decision‑making structures, aligned priorities, and sustained follow‑through.
  • The establishment of repeatable approaches, metrics, and governance that support continuous improvement across business operations.
Qualifications
  • 5‑10+ years of experience in management consulting, business operations, or transformation.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, redesign, and implement complex processes, workflows, and systems.
  • Strong understanding of how AI, automation, and modern technology can be applied to business operations.
  • Proven experience leading cross‑functional initiatives from concept through execution and adoption.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills, including experience working with senior leaders.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in a law firm, consulting firm, or other professional services organization.
  • Background in operational excellence methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Knowledge of business operations functions such as Finance, Marketing/BD, IT, HR, or related areas.
  • Experience with enterprise business systems (e.g., finance systems, CRM, workflow tools, document management).
