Role Profile
- Attracting companies on a global basis to list and trade their equity securities on London Stock Exchange markets
- Supporting the community of c. 2,000 listed issuers on the LSE
- Building and strengthening relations with key partners and influencers that support London's capital markets, including but not limited to sovereign wealth funds, private equity, venture capital, investment banks, law firms, audit firms and PR advisers
- Maintaining and further enhancing LSE's markets to ensure we provide companies seeking admission to the London Stock Exchange with an industry leading client experience and journey
- This full-time position based at LSEG's main NYC office will provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to play an important role in attracting companies to London Stock Exchange's markets, which include Main Market, AIM and the Private Securities Market (PSM)
- The role will include specific responsibility for engaging with a client portfolio of companies, private equity funds, venture capital funds and capital market advisers
- The role will be focused on attracting issuers from the Americas to list on the London Stock Exchange and the successful candidate will report into the Head of the region for Primary Markets (who is home based in the New York area)
- We would expect US and Canada focused business development activities to represent 70-80% of time dedicated to the region
- Build and run a portfolio of company leads, establishing and maintaining relationships at owner (founder or institutional shareholder), executive management and board level, utilising cost and time efficient communication channels
- Implement client communication and contact plan to potential listing and PSM candidates and existing issuers, including the advisory and investor community
- Develop an understanding of the clients, the key contacts and review their fee potential regularly
- Focus on business development through the organization and participation at a range of events. Represent LSEG by speaking at seminars, conferences and other client forums to promote LSEG and develop new client relationships
- Develop a strategic understanding of clients' business/sector and their requirements. Ensure this is fed back to in-house product and service teams on a timely basis
- Build constructive and proactive links with other LSEG businesses in order to maximise interdepartmental collaboration
- In particular, integrate business development plans with colleagues in fixed income, funds primary markets and Issuer Services teams
- Work effectively and develop partnerships with other internal staff on key LSEG projects to develop the business
- Contribute to the design of Capital Markets' marketing strategy and help define targeted marketing & digital campaigns to achieve specific objectives across the Americas
- Prioritise business development and marketing activities according to business and operational need and work with marketing team to coordinate and deliver specific marketing campaigns across the Americas
- Exercise management responsibilities over junior members of the Primary Markets Americas team, help with skills and career development, objective setting and provide regular feedback
- Regularly communicates and shares information openly and honestly
- Prepares high quality communications that are well structured, persuasive and concise.
- Demonstrates knowledge and expertise to have credibility with colleagues and clients
- Manages expectations, maintains regular contact with colleagues to keep them informed and updated on progress, issues and timetables and raises issues early
- Analyses issues to identify the most commercial, realistic and pragmatic solutions
- Assimilates information and identifies the pertinent points quickly
- Demonstrates knowledge of external challenges, opportunities and threats facing the business
- Committed to high standards of excellence; sets thorough and stretching targets
- Prioritises business goals and manages challenges to ensure delivery
- A flexible yet persistent approach and able to work to specific targets
- Has a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Carries out work without prompting or close supervision and able to self-manage workload
- Will have experience in and proven relationships at corporate and founder / institutional shareholder level across the region
- Ideally, will have 5 years+ experience in equity capital markets or a corporate finance related business development or relationship management role and a good understanding of LSEG's core markets and business areas with a professional qualification preferred
- Demonstrating an interest for capital markets and for working in a market infrastructure business environment
- Proven success in a relationship management or business development role or able to provide evidence of the ability to do so
