About Outro

Outro Health is the first company dedicated to helping people feel better by using less medication, rather than more.

Our flagship program, Taper Management, is a virtual care program that helps people safely taper off antidepressants and other psychiatric medications. It’s based on hyperbolic tapering, the first neurobiology‑based method for stopping psychiatric medications.

We’ve built the best team in the budding field of deprescribing
, led by our co‑founder Dr. Mark Horowitz—the world‑leading expert in the space. Dr. Horowitz literally wrote the textbook on deprescribing, and has helped update national guidelines in several countries.

In our first year in market, we’ve developed a first‑of‑its‑kind care model, generating meaningful revenue with healthy economics, and even establishing research partnerships with leading health systems and universities. The next phase is about model refinement, patient delight, and scale.

About the Role

As our Head of Clinical Operations
, you’ll be the operational architect behind our virtual care platform and tapering program. You’ll partner closely with the CEO and cross‑functional leads to scale our clinical programs, ensure high‑quality patient experiences, streamline systems, and help us meet key milestones.

This is a dynamic role requiring a builder’s mindset—comfortable in ambiguity, skilled in execution, and energized by impact.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Operations & Execution:

  • Own operational planning, KPIs, and OKR process related to the clinical operation—the core aspect of our business.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO on scaling systems, headcount, and care delivery models.
  • Build dashboards and reporting processes to align operations with clinical and growth metrics.

Clinical & Care Operations:

  • Partner with clinical leadership to optimize care workflows, capacity management, and provider utilization.
  • Manage tools and infrastructure supporting care delivery (e.g., EHR, scheduling, onboarding, clinical calendars).
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state‑specific telehealth laws, and virtual care regulations.
  • Collaborate in designing and refining the patient journey, from intake to program completion, ensuring high NPS and retention.
  • Own the launch of adjunctive patient offerings, like benzodiazepine tapering, therapy, etc.
  • Operational support for referral partnerships, payer partnerships, pilots, etc.

Insurance Enablement:

  • Own the strategy and operations around in‑network insurance implementation and expansion.
  • Partner with the product team to integrate in‑network coverage throughout the patient journey.

Team Enablement:

  • Establish internal processes that help a small, nimble team work efficiently and with accountability.
  • Develop hiring plans, onboarding systems, and operational playbooks as we grow.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of operating experience in a high‑growth startup environment preferably in healthcare setting with direct management experience
  • 5+ years of clinical operations experience in a digital health setting.
  • Experience scaling healthcare or tech‑enabled service models with both B2C and B2B2C dynamics.
  • Experience driving in‑network insurance initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication skills that enable you to move fluently between clinical and operational audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and build from 0 to 1.
  • A systems thinker mindset with a bias for execution and iteration.
  • You’ve adopted AI thoughtfully into your work to multiply your output.
  • You have opinions on things, and you care. You’re looking to make a dent in the world.
  • You’ve built something from scratch and know what that takes.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $175,000 - $225,000, based on experience
  • Early‑Stage Equity: 0.5 - 1.5%
  • Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • Time Off: 20 days paid vacation + holidays
