Location: New York

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Business Analyst with 8+ years of experience to lead the identification, analysis, documentation, and validation of business and system requirements. Working in close coordination with the Project Manager, the Senior Business Analyst will independently engage with users and stakeholders to define and refine business processes, functional specifications, and system rules. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and communication skills along with hands-on expertise in MS Visio, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, SQL Query, MS Excel, and Power BI.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work independently and collaboratively with business users, stakeholders, and technical teams to elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
  • Use MS Visio to map current and future-state business processes, workflows, and system interactions.
  • Define and document business rules, use cases, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to support project planning, tracking, and reporting using MS Project.
  • Prepare and deliver impactful presentations using MS PowerPoint to communicate findings, progress, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Use SQL queries to validate and analyze data, support data profiling, and contribute to data-driven decisions.
  • Leverage MS Excel for advanced data analysis, scenario modeling, and reporting.
  • Build insightful dashboards and reports using Power BI to present key performance indicators and business metrics.
  • Conduct gap analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements or system enhancements.
  • Support solution design, UAT planning, and facilitate feedback loops to ensure solutions meet business objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams to ensure clear understanding of requirements.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, change management, and stakeholder communication plans as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role in enterprise environments.
  • Proficient in:
    • MS Visio for process mapping and flowcharts
    • MS Project for project scheduling and tracking
    • MS PowerPoint for executive-level presentations
    • SQL for data querying and validation
    • MS Excel for advanced analytics (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts, etc.)
    • Power BI for dashboard development and data visualization
  • Strong understanding of business process modeling, systems analysis, and requirements elicitation techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical thinking.
  • Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall environments.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, or Azure Dev Ops
  • Experience working in large-scale public sector or education environments, especially NYC DOE
