Purpose

The Category Development Analyst is a member of Diageo’s Category Development team within the Key Accounts organization. This role is responsible for supporting our Key Accounts teams with analytics and insights and to ensure our customer’s category management strategies are executed – including category assessment, consumer insights, performance evaluation, assortment optimization, planogram recommendations, etc. through a fact-based approach.

Complexity Of Role
  • Candidate will develop a solid understanding of the business, products, markets, and the needs of customers; being recognized as a category management expert in the Spirits and Beer category.
  • Complexity is high (very SKU intensive category) and flexibility is critical in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • The role requires a significant level of collaboration and the ability to build productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Outputs/Deliverables
  • Maintain strong working relationships with retailer merchant teams and cross-functional partners to support objectives, goals and outcomes.
  • Support regular reporting and analytics to highlight performance gaps and growth opportunities.
  • Utilize various data sources including syndicated data and retailer POS and build and support tools and systems to enable analytics and insights generation.
  • Execute shelf recommendations to increase efficiency, conversion, improve shopability, and optimize space to sales leveraging JDA and Shelf IQ technology.
  • Assume ownership of assigned tools, processes, and tasks.
Experience/Skills
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience required in Category Management, insights and/or analytics, preferable in CPG or Adult Beverage Categories.
  • Experience working with syndicated and proprietary data sources, including Nielsen, Numerator, panel data, shopper loyalty data, and sales performance tracking.
  • Strong technical capabilities with experience in software systems relevant to the Category Management function including space planning software (JDA and/or Shelf IQ) and syndicated data sources.
  • Advanced computer skills; proficient in Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to connect insight to actionable store execution.
  • Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Must have ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
