Position Overview
We are seeking a strong business strategy candidate to join the Corporate Credit COO team in New York. In this role, you will work directly with senior portfolio managers, trading desk heads, and business leadership across Apollo's credit investment platform to drive operational excellence, help shape how the business measures and reviews its performance, and ensure the platform's processes and technology evolve as the business scales.
We are looking for someone who combines strong operational and analytical capability with genuine curiosity about credit markets and the judgment to know which problems matter most. The candidate must work independently across a complex, multi‑strategy platform, move fluidly between solving a specific problem and thinking about the system that created it, and earn credibility with senior investment professionals through the quality and precision of their work.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Work across PM and Trading to develop a broad understanding of how Apollo's credit business operates, identifying where process, structure, tooling, or resourcing gaps are creating friction or risk, and driving improvements that make the front office more effective.
- Actively participate in technology transformation initiatives, partnering with product and engineering teams to deliver next‑generation platform capabilities that support the business.
- Drive operational excellence across the platform, ensuring that issues across trade booking, settlement, cash management, compliance, and cross‑functional handoffs are identified early, resolved efficiently, and addressed at the root cause.
- Own recurring analytical deliverables including dealer scorecards and performance metrics, and help develop how we measure performance across the business.
- Help drive the business review process, ensuring leadership has a clear, accurate, and current picture of progress against objectives.
- Own the preparation of materials for business reviews and risk reviews, gathering inputs across teams and framing the narrative.
- Own and drive cross‑platform operational projects end‑to‑end, translating recurring pain points into durable solutions with clear ownership, governance, and adoption.
- Help drive AI adoption and integration across the PM and Trading businesses, identifying high‑impact use cases, supporting implementation alongside the quantitative and technology teams, and tracking adoption across the platform.
- Coordinate across middle office, operations, compliance, data engineering, product, and technology teams to ensure the front office's needs are understood and prioritized correctly.
- 5–10 years of experience in business strategy, business management, or a similarly rigorous operational environment within asset management or sales and trading; buy‑side or sell‑side experience required.
- Product‑oriented mindset: can think critically about how tools (especially AI), workflows, and technology should work for the business, and translate front‑office needs into clear requirements for product and engineering teams.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of problems, diagnose what is driving them, and drive them to resolution independently.
- Strong prioritization instincts and the ability to manage multiple concurrent work streams across teams and stakeholders with minimal oversight.
- Strong presentation and verbal communication skills: concise, structured, and effective with senior investment professionals.
- Genuine interest in how credit markets, private credit, portfolio management, and trading desks work. This role rewards curiosity about the business.
Pay Range: $175,000 – 250,000. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and firm performance.
