About the role

Collider is hiring a Community & Events Associate to help make our space, events, and community feel welcoming, well-run, and genuinely useful to the people working here. This is a hands-on role that combines day-to-day office operations, event support, and community building: one day you might be welcoming members and troubleshooting a space issue, the next coordinating a workshop or helping us test a new way for members to connect with one another.

Collider exists to support people working on high-impact causes, including AI safety and reducing global catastrophic risks. This role is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is excited to contribute to that work through operations and community support.

What you'll do

Day-to-day office management (50%)

  • Run the office day-to-day, including front desk coverage, visitor check-in, mail and deliveries, vendor coordination, and keeping shared spaces stocked and presentable.

  • Host visitors and guests – Ensuring researchers, fellows, partners, and event attendees feel welcomed from the moment they arrive.

  • Execute operational processes, including member onboarding.

  • Own the small things that compound — the snack supply that never runs out, the conference room that’s always set up correctly, the printer that actually works, etc.

Events (30%)

  • Respond to event requests and partner communications.

  • Coordinate the events calendar.

  • Set up event pages and maintain event listings.

  • Conduct outreach for events.

  • Set up and break down workshops, dinners, talks, and cohort programs.

  • Coordinate catering, AV, and other event logistics.

  • Troubleshoot in real time when something goes sideways.

  • Track event outcomes.

Member Support & Community Building (20%)

  • Support implementation of the member journey, including maintaining onboarding and offboarding checklists, monitoring member feedback, and identifying what is and isn’t working.

  • Support the implementation and testing of new connectivity and activation mechanisms with the Community Manager.

    • For example, run a monthly member spotlight, including interviewing members and preparing the spotlight.

  • Gather and document community insights, including friction points, relationships and collaborations forming, and ideas or needs that members repeatedly raise.

  • Help build the culture of the space through the small touches that make people feel like they’re somewhere thoughtful, not just somewhere functional.

  • Draft member communications.

  • Maintain community metrics and data.

What we're looking for
Required
  • Genuine warmth with people — you actually like hosting, you remember names and details, and visitors leave feeling better than when they arrived.

  • Strong operational instincts: nothing falls through the cracks, supplies don't run out, events don't have surprise problems, and the people around you stop noticing logistics because everything just works.

  • Comfort with the tactical and the unglamorous — running out for last‑minute supplies, troubleshooting a broken AV setup ten minutes before a talk, or staying late to reset the space after an event.

  • Handy with IT asks, figuring out why projects don't connect and helping members connect all sorts of devices.

  • Clear communicator: you keep teammates informed, ask questions when you need to, and surface issues early rather than letting them grow.

  • Discretion and good judgment — you'll often be the first to know about visitors, schedules, and sensitive situations, and we need to trust your handling of all of it.

Nice to have
  • 2+ years of experience in office management, hospitality, events, executive support, or a similar role where taking care of people and spaces was the core of the job.

  • Background in hospitality at a high standard — hotels, restaurants, members' clubs, or similar environments where guest experience was treated as a craft.

  • Prior experience supporting a mission-driven organization, nonprofit, or social impact work.

  • Event planning experience, especially for small-to-medium professional gatherings (dinners, workshops, retreats).

  • Familiarity with tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Asana, and Airtable.

  • Interest in AI safety and reducing global catastrophic risks.

  • Start date:
