Attributes We Value

We hire successful builders with founder-like energy who want real impact, accelerated learning, and true ownership. You bring strong role‑related expertise and sharp thinking, and you’re motivated by our mission and operating principles. You move fast with good judgment, dig deep with curiosity, and make decisions from first principles, balancing speed and rigor.

You're humble and collaborative; turn zero‑to‑one ideas into real products, and you “get stuff done” end-to-end. You use AI to work smarter and solve problems faster. Here, you’ll tackle complex, high‑visibility problems with exceptional teammates and grow your career as we build the future of global banking. If that sounds like you, let’s build what’s next.

About the team

Legal & Licensing at Airwallex sits at the heart of the decisions that shape how Airwallex grows. This team backs the visionary builders transforming Airwallex into a generational financial company, sharing the journey of product development and sales alongside our business partners. You’ll help shape a global licensing footprint most fintechs wish they had, while making sure our brand and data architecture stay best‑in‑class for customers entering the agentic economy and ready for its regulatory demands.

The hard part is helping the business move fast on product, revenue, and new‑market expansion without compromising the regulatory discipline that protects the moat.

It’s a team for lawyers, strategists, and licensing specialists with commercial instincts, sharp judgment, and an obsession with customer‑first outcomes. If you want to guide executive decisions and help build the licensing, structure, and judgment behind what comes next, this is where legal has real leverage.

What you’ll do

As Counsel in the Product Legal team, you will be a valuable member of the global Product Legal team and will help our rapidly growing business navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. Although you will be based in the US, you will have multi‑regional responsibility by supporting our product and partnership strategy and advising on complex technology transactions globally. You will build strong business relationships with business teams and understand the business environment.

When you don’t know the answer, you’ll know how to obtain the answer and explain it to business partners. This dynamic role is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and solving complex issues for our internal and external partners, is detail oriented, willing to take on challenges and changes, obsessively curious and intellectually honest, thrives on taking actions and delivering impactful results, and aims to inspire and be inspired.

Experience in fintech or payments is welcomed, as is a demonstrated passion for mastering something new. Relevant subject‑matter expertise may include knowledge of payments, card networks, and banking.

This role is based in New York City.

Responsibilities:
  • You will serve as a dedicated thought partner for our Strategic Partnership team and will support negotiations on complex and novel agreements with our strategic partners, help manage the process and help review and draft the agreements.

  • Provide advice and…
