Trade Compliance Manager
The Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring adherence to U.S. Customs, ITAR, EAR, and other trade regulations while managing international shipping documentation, export licensing, and internal compliance processes. This is an in-office position based near Utica, NY.
Comply with the company Code of Conduct and Export Compliance Manual
Oversee site trade compliance activities, ensuring adherence to ITAR, EAR, and import regulations
Maintain and enforce internal trade compliance processes and policies
Review and approve international shipment documentation, including commercial invoices & EEI
Conduct regular internal audits, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions
Develop and deliver trade compliance training to site employees
Collaborate with regional trade compliance leadership on procedures, controls, and best practices
Manage and maintain export licenses, exceptions, and exemptions
Work closely with logistics, shipping, and legal partners on international shipments
Monitor changes in export and import regulations and implement updates
5+ years of trade compliance experience
Bachelor's degree preferred, or Associate's degree with 7+ years of experience
Understanding of international shipping documentation (commercial invoice, AWB/BOL, licenses)
Experience working with the U.S. Department of State (ITAR) and the Department of Commerce (EAR)
Knowledge of automated compliance tools and ACE system
Thorough understanding of Import and export regulations, including HTS/ECCN classification
Excellent communication skills with ability to build trusted relationships
Strong data analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills
