Position Information:

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking a Senior Economist (Milk Marketing) to work in Albany, NY. The Senior Economist (Milk Marketing) assists Department officials in analyzing and evaluating the dairy industry, milk marketing orders, and other state and federal agricultural policies to determine the economic impacts and costs or benefits. This position also serves as Secretary to the New York Dairy Promotion Advisory Board and assists the Department in administrative activities of the Milk Marketing Advisory Board.

The Senior Economist (Milk Marketing) is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday. The position will be based in our Albany office located at 10B Airline Dr., Albany, NY 12235. We are conveniently located near the Albany International Airport and provide ample free parking and a comfortable work environment. Opportunities for telecommuting are available in accordance with the agency’s Telecommuting Program Guidelines.

The full title Senior Economist (Milk Marketing) position is in the PEF Salary Grade (SG) 18. The starting salary of the PEF SG-18 is $69,964/year. The candidate appointed at the Senior Economist (Milk Marketing), SG-18 level, will be eligible to participate in the New York State Performance Evaluation Program. Through this program, employees receive yearly performance evaluations. Performance advances are payable to PEF employees whose base annual salary is below the job rate for their current position and who were rated "Satisfactory" or its equivalent on their yearly performance evaluation.

Performance advance payments are added to an employee's annual salary. Over time, yearly performance advances may lead to the SG-18 job rate salary of $88,970/ year!
