Overview
We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented candidate for the position of Coordinator, Interim Care and Special Needs Program. The ideal candidate must be organized, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. This is full-time in-person position which will include some fieldwork in NY and NJ. Spence Chapin's Interim Care Program offers temporary care to newborns in the private homes of trained volunteers while a biological parent receives supportive counseling and explores permanency options for her child, including adoption.
The coordinator carries a small caseload and is responsible for the case management and activities related to the care of babies in our Interim Care Program. Spence-Chapin places infants and young children with a wide range of complex medical needs with loving adoptive families across the US. The coordinator will actively recruit and screen adoptive parents for the placement of children with Special Needs and coordinate these placements.
This role includes work with volunteer Interim Care families as well as adoptive families, birth families, doctors, hospital staff, etc. This is an in-person position with an annual salary of $65,000 to $75,000.

- Recruit, train, onboard and supervise Interim Care Volunteers in all aspects of their care of infants
- Manage paperwork/documents required for Interim Care Program
- Provide case management for children and volunteer cases in the Interim Care Program
- Recruit and screen prospective parents for the adoption of children with a wide range of complex medical needs
- Coordinate interstate placements for a small caseload of infants and children with Special Needs
- Provide direct client/social services that require the use of clinical skills and judgment
- Manage schedules of Interim Care Providers
- Conduct annual home study assessments for Interim Care Volunteer families and prospective adoptive families
- Provide support to Interim Care Volunteers while they have a baby in their care, and conduct regular check-ins with caregivers between placements
- Coordinate quarterly training and Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
- Provide Transportation to infants in Spence-Chapin's Interim Care Program
- Coordinate and participate in medical appointments with pediatricians and medical specialists
- Take detailed notes for paper and electronic records
- Write detailed summaries of the baby's daily routine and medical needs/follow-up
- Attend hospital discharges for babies
- Track and order supplies and clothing for babies
- Apply for SSI and Adoption Subsidy for infants in care
