We’re hiring an After School Preschool Counselor to support our youngest learners!
Job title: After School Counselor – Ones
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:45–6:00 PM
Compensation: $20/hour
About the RoleAs the After School Counselor for our 1s program, you will provide a warm, nurturing, and structured environment for young learners. This role requires an intuitive, hands‑on approach and the ability to support each child's needs with confidence and care. You will supervise and lead age‑appropriate activities, create a calm and joyful atmosphere, and ensure every child feels seen, safe, and supported during the afternoon hours.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Lead and supervise a small group of children during after school programming.
- Maintain a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment tailored to the age group.
- Prepare and guide simple activities such as sensory play, music, and movement.
- Help children with transitions such as handwashing, toileting, or diapering (if applicable).
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom space and tidy materials.
- Use the Brightwheel app to share updates and photos with families.
- Support children’s emotional needs with gentle language and modeling.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and the Auxiliary Director as needed.
- Oversee dismissal and ensure smooth handoff to caregivers.
- Assist with diapering and communicate toileting needs clearly.
- Create a soothing, predictable routine for toddlers who may be new to separation.
- Provide extra support and redirection for emerging language and motor skills.
- Proactive and confident with young children.
- Tuned into children’s needs and able to work with minimal direction.
- Patient, flexible, and comfortable managing separation emotions.
- Responsible, punctual, and communicative with colleagues and families.
- Experience working in a school, daycare, or early childhood setting (at least 1 year).
- Preferred but not required:
Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin, familiarity with Montessori approach.

Requirements- 1 year experience working with infants and toddlers in a group setting (eg. classroom, camp, enrichment class)
- Mandated Reporter, First Aid, CPR certified & MAT trained preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Able to teach in Spanish or Mandarin a plus
