Position Summary
The Teachers in the After-School Program are responsible for leading and supervising activities for groups of middle school students.
Essential Duties- Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
- Supervision of the children in their assigned activity; survey the room to ensure safety and working order of equipment; intervene and mediate conflicts; keep track of where all the children are; leave the room and all areas neat and clean; provide attention to first aid and document all accidents and injuries; and create a safe, fun, friendly, and nurturing environment. This supervision occurs at all times, including arrival, transitions, during activities, and departure.
- Programming for activities; plan and implement activities in the program, including prepared lesson plans; instruct, encourage, support, include all children, and clean up; be prepared with supplies and ideas.
- Work with individual children; develop positive relationships; intervene to help children adjust; communicate concerns to the Site Director; help implement any individual behavior plans.
- Attend staff meetings, supervisory sessions, and agency trainings; maintain a positive, respectful, and warm manner towards all children, parents, family members, and co-workers.
- Provide reports and participate in parent contacts as needed; may participate in parent meetings or write individual reports about children in their group; be properly supervised and supported by the Site Director.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality for the After School Program; inform the Site Director or designated staff if unable to work at the scheduled time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be a licensed Teacher.
- Understanding of developmental needs of children aged 10-14.
- Demonstration of planning and program skills.
- Past experience in working with children.

The incumbent is expected to work a schedule, whether in-person or hybrid, as determined by the department s needs to facilitate effective collaboration with the team. The position s requirements are subject to periodic review and adjustment based on organizational needs and changes in work dynamics.
