A nationally recognized civil construction firm is seeking a Superintendent to lead site operations on a high-profile infrastructure project. This role is central to the successful delivery of a complex deep-excavation initiative involving secant piles, caissons, and support-of-excavation (SOE) systems. The project is a cornerstone of a major public-sector redevelopment effort and offers a rare opportunity to manage meaningful work with lasting community impact.

Key Responsibilities Project Oversight & Planning
  • Develop and manage work plans and sequencing for excavation and SOE scopes
  • Coordinate engineering reviews and installation planning for secant piles, soldier piles, tiebacks, rakers, and caissons
  • Review and manage submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and field changes
  • Identify risks related to subsurface conditions, sequencing, and site logistics
Field Execution
  • Oversee day-to-day field operations, including excavation, drilling, and foundation installations
  • Monitor heavy equipment use (e.g., excavators, cranes, drilling rigs, haul trucks)
  • Ensure work complies with structural, geotechnical, and environmental requirements
  • Maintain quality control through inspections and field verification
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce safety protocols aligned with OSHA and internal policies
  • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments
  • Ensure environmental compliance, including groundwater and soil management
  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials (steel, concrete, bracing systems, dewatering equipment, etc.)
  • Supervise subcontractor work, productivity, and schedule adherence
  • Review progress reports and verify subcontractor billing
Coordination & Reporting
  • Act as site liaison for engineers, inspectors, agencies, and client representatives
  • Lead coordination meetings and facilitate communication among stakeholders
  • Deliver regular reports covering schedule, cost tracking, and risk analysis
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of field leadership in civil or heavy construction, including deep foundation and SOE systems
  • Extensive hands-on experience with secant piles, caissons, soldier piles and lagging, and steel bracing systems
  • Strong understanding of excavation logistics, soil mechanics, and geotechnical design
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, engineering reports, and regulatory documentation
  • Proficiency with scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred)
  • PMP, EIT, PE, or Deep Foundation Institute (DFI) training/certifications are a plus

This is a unique opportunity to lead field execution on one of the region’s most visible infrastructure projects. The selected candidate will join a high-performing team focused on safety, innovation, and delivering exceptional results.
