Project Estimator with expertise in excavation, site development, and solar field construction
. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and supporting project managers and executives in bidding, planning, and execution. This role is critical in ensuring competitive bids, profitability, and successful project delivery.

• Estimating & Bidding
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for excavation, grading, utilities, site work, and solar field installations.
  • Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project including scope and requirements.
  • Preparing material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service
  • Creating labor estimates for any project
  • Incorporate site-specific challenges such as traffic control, multi-trade collaboration, and environmental factors into estimates
  • Presenting prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders
  • Compiling and recording actual costs
  • Develop bid packages and proposals that reflect competitive pricing strategies.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations as required.
• Project Analysis
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, underground utilities, foundations, and site infrastructure.
  • Assess soil conditions, site constraints, and logistics to identify cost implications.
  • Evaluate risks, contingencies, and value engineering opportunities.
• Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to align estimates with execution plans.
  • Support contract negotiations by providing accurate cost data.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
• Cost Tracking & Reporting
  • Compare estimated costs against actual project costs to improve accuracy for future estimates.
  • Provide regular reporting and forecasting to leadership.
  • Support change order pricing and scope modifications.

• Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • 3–7 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in excavation, site work, or renewable energy/solar projects.
  • Strong understanding of earthwork, utility installation, grading, stormwater systems, and large-scale solar field infrastructure.
• Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam or similar).
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Procore and other construction management tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
• Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
