currently we are looking for concrete inspectors for immediate building & infrastructure projects

location: greater new york city metropolitan area (project location varies)

status: part time as needed

duration: extended

client: varies

compensation: $25hr - $35/hr based on certification & experience

the concrete inspector is responsible for providing independent inspection and testing services for building & infrastructure projects throughout the greater new york city metropolitan area. This role supports both quality control (qc) and quality assurance (qa) programs in accordance with nyc building code chapter 17, 1 rcny §101-06, and the international building code (ibc), as applicable to each project.

inspectors will verify that concrete materials, placement, reinforcement, curing, and associated construction activities conform to approved contract documents, design drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards. The position requires a strong understanding of concrete construction means and methods, inspection protocols, and regulatory requirements unique to new york city.

this role involves maintaining an on-site presence during active construction operations, coordinating closely with contractors, construction managers, special inspectors, and client representatives to ensure all required inspections and tests are performed at the appropriate stages of work. Inspectors are expected to proactively identify non-conforming conditions, clearly document findings, and communicate issues in real time to minimize rework, delays, and compliance risks.

the concrete inspector will be responsible for witnessing and documenting all required testing activities, preparing accurate daily inspection and test reports, maintaining deficiency and non-conformance report (ncr) logs, and verifying corrective actions and re-inspections. This position plays a critical role in ensuring structural integrity, life safety compliance, and overall project quality.

  • work responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
    • inspection of reinforcing steel placement, embedments, anchors, and formwork
    • observation of concrete placement, consolidation, finishing, and curing
    • sampling and testing of fresh concrete (slump, air, temperature, cylinders)
    • verification of mix designs, batch tickets, and delivery times
    • observation of hot and cold weather concreting procedures
  • work hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or night shifts depending on project requirements and concrete placement schedules.
  • prepare and submit daily inspection and test reports within required timeframe.
  • utilize client or company reporting platforms as require
  • maintain organized and auditable inspection records
requirements
  • a minimum of 3 years of experience inspecting construction work in the city of ny, varied in size and complexity. Projects may include commercial high-rise buildings, residential towers, transportation infrastructure, utilities, institutional facilities, and public-sector construction.
  • familiarity with 101-06 and chapter 17 of the nyc building code and the international building code.
  • holds osha 10 or osha 30 certification taken within the last 5 years.
  • well versed in all aspects of construction and qa/qc responsibilities
  • familiarity with applicable soils & geotechnical systems
  • training and/or knowledge in fall protection, scaffolding and ladders, & work-zone safety
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • physical abilities applicable to construction projects in the city of new york and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate active construction sites, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and walking uneven surfaces.
