Position: Construction Safety Auditor - CHST (On-Call)
Location: New York

Location: Various Job Sites Across NYC

Schedule: As Needed / On-Call (2-hour site inspections)

Position Summary

The Construction Safety Auditor will conduct short-duration (approximately 2-hour) on-site safety inspections across active construction projects throughout New York City. This is a part-time, as‑needed role ideal for safety professionals seeking flexible, project-based work. The Safety Auditor will ensure compliance with OSHA, NYC DOB regulations, and company safety standards while providing clear documentation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and on-call construction site safety audits across NYC locations.
  • Assess compliance with OSHA, NYC Department of Buildings, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Identify unsafe conditions, work practices, or regulatory violations.
  • Document findings through detailed audit reports, including photos and corrective action recommendations.
  • Communicate hazards and observations to project managers, site supervisors, and company leadership.
  • Follow up on corrective actions when required.
  • Assist in supporting a positive safety culture across all project teams.
Required Qualifications
  • CHST certification issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)
    Mandatory
  • 7+ years of construction safety experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and NYC DOB regulations.
  • Ability to travel to job sites across NYC on short notice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to produce clear, objective, and timely inspection reports.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience as a Site Safety Inspector, Safety Auditor, or Safety Technician.
  • Experience in construction safety services, including preparation and review of safety plans and accident/incident investigations for construction projects.
  • Practical knowledge of safety regulations and standards. Good communication and report writing skills.
  • Familiarity with NYC-specific construction requirements, including Site Safety Plans and Local Law compliance.
  • Additional safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, CSP, CHMM) a plus.
