About the CompanyAvdoo is seeking an Assistant Construction Project Manager to support our construction team on ground-up luxury residential and commercial projects in NYC. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn the full development process—from preconstruction through closeout—while working alongside experienced Project Managers on high-quality projects. As an owner‑builder, Avdoo acts as both developer and general contractor, giving our team direct control and accountability over every aspect of construction.
Aboutthe Role
The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of construction experience from a leading general contractor or engineering firm and is ready to take the next step in their career. You'll be responsible for day-to-day coordination, detailed tracking and documentation, and ensuring smooth execution of construction activities while developing the skills to become a Construction Project Manager.
Responsibilities- Support the Project Manager in daily coordination with contractors, subcontractors, and design teams
- Track and monitor budgets, schedules, and change orders under PM guidance
- Coordinate submittal reviews, RFI responses, and material procurement
- Manage daily documentation including daily logs, progress photos, and meeting minutes
- Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with drawings and specifications
- Assist with bid package preparation, subcontractor prequalification, and contractor coordination
- Participate in design coordination meetings and OAC meetings
- Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with contract documents
- Support value engineering efforts and cost‑saving initiatives
- Coordinate punch list development and closeout documentation
- Maintain organized project files and document control systems
- Assist in preparing scopes of work for various trades
- Help coordinate inspections and manage relationships with city agencies
- Track project deliverables and ensure deadlines are met
- Take on increasing responsibility and project ownership over time as skills develop
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in ground-up construction working for a large General Contractor or Engineering firm
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- Solid understanding of ground-up construction processes and building systems
- Experience with residential or commercial projects (NYC experience preferred but not required)
- Working knowledge of MEP systems, structural systems, facades, and interior construction
- Proficiency in CAD programs (AutoCAD, Revit, Blue Beam) for markups and coordination
- Exposure to BIM coordination
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn NYC codes, regulations, and DOB processes
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
- Proactive problem-solver with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Eager to learn and grow into a Project Manager role
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Salary starts at $105,000 and benefits include healthcare with an Employer contribution (subject to applicable exclusions and limitations), access to commuter benefits, and a 401(k) with Employer match.
