Construction Estimator

Project Type: Heavy Civil / Sitework / New Construction (Public & Institutional Projects)

We are seeking a Senior Estimator with a strong heavy civil background to support and lead bid preparation for public and institutional civil projects across NYC. The role focuses on self-performed civil scopes on new construction and complex sitework projects, requiring a solid understanding of pricing, production, and constructability.

Projects may be delivered as a prime contractor or as a civil subcontractor to construction managers and owners, depending on scope and procurement method. Typical work includes a mix of infrastructure, utility, and institutional projects throughout the city.

• Prepare detailed estimates from drawings and specifications through final submission
• Perform takeoffs and pricing for heavy civil and sitework scopes, including foundations, concrete, earthwork, utilities, drainage, and related work
• Develop bid strategies and evaluate constructability, scope clarity, and risk Price work with a clear understanding of means, methods, labor, equipment, and material costs
• Coordinate with internal teams to support a smooth transition from preconstruction to operations
• Maintain market pricing awareness and subcontractor/vendor coverage
• Support competitive bid-day execution and proposal preparation
• Utilize estimating and project software such as On-Screen Takeoff, Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar tools

• 5+ years of experience estimating heavy civil and/or sitework projects in NYC
• Demonstrated ability to price self-performed civil work

• Experience on public-sector or institutional projects preferred
• Strong understanding of production rates, cost drivers, and field operations
• Ability to independently produce accurate, competitive estimates under deadline pressure
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills
