Role Summary
We are actively hiring an experienced Electrical & Construction Estimator to support commercial, residential, and industrial projects throughout Astoria, NY and the greater Queens market. This position is central to pre‑construction strategy, cost forecasting, and bid development, ensuring projects are priced accurately and positioned for profitability.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, sharp analytical capabilities, and the ability to evaluate drawings, specifications, and vendor proposals to create thorough and competitive bid packages.
Core Responsibilities- Analyze architectural drawings, electrical plans, and project specifications to prepare comprehensive cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted trades
- Develop competitive bid proposals that incorporate risk assessment, contingencies, and targeted profit margins
- Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing; negotiate terms to ensure cost efficiency and value
- Utilize historical data and current market trends in the Astoria and NYC construction market to validate pricing assumptions
- Work closely with project managers and internal stakeholders to align estimates with execution strategies
- Identify scope discrepancies, cost exposures, and design conflicts, providing practical and financially sound recommendations
- Participate in bid review meetings and contribute to pre‑construction planning discussions
- Demonstrated experience in electrical or construction estimating within commercial, residential, or industrial sectors
- Strong ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed construction documentation
- Proficiency in estimating software platforms, project management systems, and Microsoft Office tools
- Solid understanding of electrical codes, industry standards, safety requirements, and quality control practices
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills
- Experience managing estimates for projects within urban markets such as Astoria and surrounding NYC boroughs preferred
