CBIZ Talent Solutions has been engaged by it's New York City construction client to identify a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) with Heavy Civil Construction experience. They will lead safety compliance on large-scale heavy civil projects under USACE standards (EM 385-1-1). Drive proactive safety culture, documentation accuracy, and field enforcement.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct daily site safety inspections; maintain logs and corrective action tracking.
- Investigate incidents/near misses; complete required reports and OSHA Form 300/300A.
- Review, enforce, and update the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).
- Monitor subcontractor safety compliance and report high‑hazard activities weekly.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Government safety representatives; remain onsite full‑time during operations.
- 10+ years of safety experience in heavy civil (highway, utility, infrastructure).
- Verifiable USACE EM 385‑1‑1 project experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and EM 385‑1‑1; proven leadership and communication skills.
- OSHA 30 (Construction & General Industry); CHST/CSP/OHST.
- OSHA Authorized Trainer (10/30 Hour); HAZWOPER 40;
First Aid/CPR. - EM 385‑1‑1 certification preferred (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
- Salary range: $130,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience.
