Structural & Miscellaneous Steel Estimator

Job Description

We are a well-respected and established Steel Sub-contractor based in the greater New York Metropolitan area. We are looking for a Junior steel estimator to join our office located in midtown Manhattan. Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in estimating and a proven track record of meeting deadlines while balancing multiple bids. You’ll be working directly with our head estimator.

• Minimum 2 years structural & miscellaneous steel estimating experience
• New York City experience required
• Ability to interpret architectural & structural design drawings
• Capable of producing take-offs based off of these drawings

• Generate budget estimates based off architectural, structural drawings
• Quantify all aspects of a bid from material cost, detailing hours, fabrication etc.
• Co-ordinate with general contractors, sub-contractors, detailers, our shop etc. from the initial bid stage until the completion of a project
• Build great working relationships with partners such as general contractors, detailers, suppliers etc.
• Creating multiple proposals simultaneously while meeting deadlines
• Working with the project managers handling change orders & cost impact
• Occasional site walk-throughs with the general contractors

The standard working hours are from 8am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday. However, some overtime will be required occasionally to meet deadlines.
