Senior Construction Project Manager

Responsibilities

• Provide support for Gordian products and services for NYC School Construction Authority.
• Lead construction management professionals and provide Construction Management Services for various types of work in school buildings throughout the five boroughs of NYC.
• Lead all aspects of project management, goal setting, productivity, company initiatives, mentorship, and achievement‑oriented focus that fosters a productive team environment while driving projects to completion.
• Ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the Contract Documents, Drawings, and specifications, on time, within budget, and safely.
• Review and evaluate the performance of assigned staff, while providing guidance and recommendations for effective and efficient project management and career development; manage a team of 3–5 personnel.
• Prepare plans and assignments; monitor, review, and evaluate the work performed by assigned staff.
• Schedule monthly coordination meetings with Staff, Contractors, and Client to review reports on projects in design/scope, construction, and close‑out/transfer.
• Coordinate work with schools and stakeholders, oversee construction activities, maintain the project schedule, conduct site safety inspections, project tracking and reporting, manage communication between all stakeholders, handle project close‑out and transfer, and manage contractor payments on multiple projects.
• Manage multiple projects at various stages of the construction process (design, preconstruction, permitting, active construction, close‑out/transfer).
• Manage material take‑offs from plans and specs; create and review detailed construction line‑item estimates and proposals.
• Provide constructability review during design and input on design to help fast‑track the nature of the program.
• Identify, assess, and address issues and problems impacting assigned projects to ensure quality and high standards of performance and compliance in both design and construction by all consultants, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Visit various job sites on a regular basis in the performance of the above duties.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or comparable work experience.
• At least 8+ years of construction procurement, construction management, or general contracting related experience in both facilities and road construction; minimum 5 years in supervisory capacity managing all phases of construction.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in commercial public construction operations, pricing, and contracting, including scope development and estimating.
• Knowledge and ability to supervise people, including recruitment, training, performance management, and people development.
• Strong knowledge of NYC building department requirements for filing, permits, inspection, and close‑out.
• High level analytical skills and problem‑solving capabilities, and the ability to effectively manage several projects simultaneously.
• Excellent customer service, communication, interpersonal, and team‑building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Project, and Acrobat Reader; ability to develop and generate custom tracking documents and reports.
• Job Order Contracting experience preferred but not required; comprehensive understanding of various public procurement and project delivery methods and requirements.

• Position is onsite full‑time and requires travel to project sites locally within the five boroughs (50‑70%). Reports to the NYC Long Island City Office.
