You will work under the direction of a Resident Engineer and perform inspection of work on water/wastewater facilities projects in New York City. This on-site position requires you to work independently and in the construction field office, communicating issues and providing solutions, participating in project progress meetings, and actively documenting the contractors' work and field conditions.
Role:
Lead Construction Inspector, on-site for water/wastewater facilities projects in NYC.
- Communicate effectively with inspectors, contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve issues or discrepancies.
- Perform quality assurance inspections to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Monitor and inspect contractor work to ensure proper construction methods, quality and safety standards are met.
- Review construction plans, specifications, submittals, drawings, change orders, and RFIs to confirm field application of contract requirements.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including inspection logs, daily reports, digital photographic records, force account records, contractor pay estimate notes and quantities, materials testing, and other construction records.
- Identify, document, and track resolution of non-compliant or deficient contractor work and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
- Attend and participate in pre-installation, pre-construction, and periodic construction meetings as required.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam, Trimble Unity Construct, and other relevant software to summarize inspection findings, analyze data, and track progress.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering OR relevant project experience in lieu of education
- 5+ years of water/wastewater and/or facilities inspection and construction management experience
- Knowledge of construction practices, physical characteristics and properties of drainage and utility systems construction materials, and approved methods and equipment used in testing construction materials
- Experience working on NYCDEP projects
- Familiarity with large-scale construction project practices, especially on projects involving multiple contractors and consultants
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk construction sites, including walking up and down slopes, climbing ladders, and walking on scaffolding and other temporary structures
- Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving history
Posted Salary Range:
Minimum 90,000;
Upper 140,000. The base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Health and welfare benefits include medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance; a 401(k) plan and the ability to purchase company stock at a discount.
Eligible employees may enroll in deferred compensation plans. Jacobs offers an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for full-time salaried/exempt employees, seven paid holidays, one floating holiday, and caregiver leave.
