About the Role

Gallagher Bassett Technical Services is seeking a qualified Construction Superintendent / Licensed Site Safety Manager to join our Safety & Health team. This role is ideal for a proactive, experienced safety professional who can oversee construction site safety operations, manage compliance requirements, and support safe work practices across NYC metro area construction projects.

The selected candidate will be responsible exclusively for safety matters related to the assigned work site and will report directly to the Director of Field Operations for the NY Metro Area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and enforce construction site safety programs in compliance with federal, state, local, client, and project-specific requirements.
  • Oversee site activities related to safe work practices, including review of construction and engineering designs and plans.
  • Ensure subcontractors meet all safety compliance requirements, including fire/life safety, safety training, required certifications, emergency procedures, drills, and environmental/risk management standards.
  • Monitor safety and security implications related to contractor and subcontractor operations.
  • Perform daily safety inspection report audits, testing, and verification of operational safety readiness.
  • Coordinate safety-related matters with the General Contractor’s office.
  • Coordinate with other safety personnel for construction or build-out project activities.
  • Manage supply and deployment of PPE to field personnel.
  • Identify workplace hazards and provide practical recommendations to reduce risk.
  • Support early morning, late shift, weekend, and holiday work schedules as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid NYC Department of Buildings Licensed Site Safety Manager credential.
  • Valid NYC Department of Buildings Construction Superintendent credential preferred or required depending on assignment.
  • Valid 62‑hour Supervisor SST card.
  • Valid FDNY Certificate of Fitness S56.
  • Experience or strong familiarity with commercial high‑rise and/or institutional building construction projects.
  • Ability to instruct and train on‑site personnel as needed.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to work across the NYC Metro area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Health and Safety Technician certification.
  • Successful completion of the OSHA 30‑hour Construction Safety & Health course.
  • Active membership in the American Society of Safety Professionals.
  • Current residence in or near the NYC Metro area.

This role requires someone who can walk, climb, lift, stand for extended periods, and navigate active job sites safely and professionally.

  • Strong understanding of construction safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and prepare accurate daily and comprehensive reports.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proactive attitude with a client-service mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
