- Develop, maintain, and leverage relationships with low‑voltage vendors, manufacturers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing, confirm scope coverage, and support procurement and schedule strategies.
- Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing; ensure scope alignment, contractual compliance, and risk coverage.
- Apply working knowledge of union labor conditions, including crew compositions, shift work, overtime, premium time, and site constraints typical of NYC construction.
- Perform risk reviews and participate in internal estimate reviews and selection committee discussions.
- Coordinate closely with electrical estimators, project managers, engineers, and operations to ensure seamless handoff from pre‑construction to execution.
- Maintain organized estimate files, historical cost data, and vendor pricing intelligence specific to the NYC market.
- Support value engineering efforts and cost‑saving alternatives while maintaining system performance and contract requirements.
- Adhere to Unity Electric’s safety standards, estimating procedures, and quality expectations.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct experience estimating low‑voltage systems for commercial or infrastructure projects in the NYC market.
- Strong understanding of low‑voltage systems, installation methods, materials, and labor‑driven productivity impacts on pricing.
- Demonstrated experience working with and negotiating NYC‑based low‑voltage vendors and subcontractors; existing relationships will be considered a factor in candidate selection.
- Proven ability to independently manage multiple bids under tight schedules.
- Proficiency with estimating and take‑off software (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Established vendor and manufacturer relationships within the NYC low‑voltage market, including security, structured cabling, and communications systems.
- Experience on large commercial, airport, transit, data center, or institutional projects in New York City.
- Working knowledge of NYC Building Code, NFPA, and applicable low‑voltage standards (TIA/EIA).
