A leading heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent in New York City. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex excavation, foundation, and structural work on one of the region's most high-profile construction programs.

The Superintendent will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing field operations on heavy civil construction projects. This individual will lead project teams, manage subcontractors and self‑perform crews, ensure safety compliance, and drive projects to successful completion while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives.

• Develop and manage project schedules, work plans, and construction sequencing.
• Coordinate daily field operations to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Review project drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to maintain project progress.
• Collaborate with project management teams to ensure successful project delivery.

• Lead and supervise field personnel, subcontractors, and construction activities.
• Coordinate construction operations involving bridges, highways, roadways, earthwork, excavation, utilities, structures, and transportation infrastructure.
• Monitor productivity, manpower, equipment utilization, and project performance.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
• Maintain project schedules and proactively address field challenges.

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on all projects.
• Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Support quality control initiatives and regulatory compliance efforts.

• Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Provide regular progress updates and reporting on schedule, manpower, productivity, and project milestones.
• Assist in resolving field issues and maintaining positive client relationships.
• Mentor and develop field personnel to support long-term project and organizational success.

• 5+ years of Superintendent experience on heavy civil construction projects.
• Strong background in infrastructure construction, including projects such as bridges, highways, roadways, excavation, utilities, transportation, or related civil works.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors, field crews, equipment, and project schedules.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, safety practices, and quality control procedures.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency with construction scheduling and reporting tools.

• OSHA 30 Certification.
• Experience managing large‑scale public or private infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of DOT, transit authority, municipal, or other public‑sector construction requirements.
• Additional industry certifications are a plus.
