Schreiber Excavating in Ontario, NY is seeking a full‑time Cost Engineer for a 45‑hour‑per‑week schedule. This Cost Engineer position offers competitive pay of $60,000–$65,000 based on experience and performance‑based bonus opportunities

WHAT WILL YOU DO AS OUR COST ENGINEER?

On a daily basis, you’ll review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, and build clear, accurate cost estimates while coordinating subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure complete scope coverage. You’ll prepare RFIs, evaluate scope risks, elevate concerns early, assemble bid packages, and document estimates in organized systems that support successful project handoffs. Beyond bidding, you’ll assist with change order pricing and collaborate with field teams to keep projects aligned-all while sharpening your accuracy, judgment, and independence over time.

This is a full‑time position with an expected workload of approximately 45 hours per week.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE OUR COST ENGINEER?
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications

Qualifications (one of the following required):

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Experience in construction, sitework, or field operations
  • Experience in estimating or preconstruction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using estimating or takeoff software is strongly preferred
