Earthworks & Deep Foundations Superintendent – New York City
QP Group is partnering with a leading ENR‑ranked General Contractor to identify an experienced Earthworks and Deep Foundations Superintendent for a major construction project in New York City. This individual will oversee excavation, Support of Excavation (SOE), and deep foundation operations on a multi‑billion‑dollar correctional facility project.
Key Responsibilities Field Operations- Oversee daily excavation, shoring, drilling, and soil disposal activities.
- Ensure proper installation of SOE systems and deep foundation elements.
- Monitor heavy equipment operations and subcontractor performance.
- Verify compliance with project plans, engineering specifications, and inspection requirements.
- Coordinate field activities to maintain schedule, quality, and productivity targets.
- Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and site risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all site operations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, inspectors, and contractors.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, schedule, costs, and risk management.
- Lead project coordination meetings and maintain strong client relationships.
- Collaborate with project teams to proactively resolve field issues and maintain project momentum.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in excavation, SOE, and deep foundation construction.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Soldier pile and lagging systems
- Steel bracing systems
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, geotechnical reports, and engineering documents.
- Experience with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, cost control, and project reporting.
- Proven leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- OSHA 30‑Hour Certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) training and/or certification
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) License
