Job Summary

Our New York City office has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Resident Engineer with experience in construction of complex water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities. Candidate will work closely with the other members of the project team, including the Owner, multiple contractors, and design engineers to ensure the successful delivery of projects, which includes defining project scopes, supporting quality control and assurance, managing schedules, and monitoring progress.

We are seeking a self‑motivated individual who enjoys the variety of opportunities available in engineering and construction consulting. Positive client interaction and an understanding of construction are essential to candidate success.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct quality control and assurance inspections and report on findings.
  • Coordinate and oversee non‑conformance reporting and closeout.
  • Coordinate contractor or subcontractor activities and ensure adherence to project plans.
  • Define project scopes and objectives.
  • Monitor project progress and provide detailed reports to stakeholders.
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Assist with complex RFIs and provide accurate responses.
  • Implement change management processes and communicate changes effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate health and safety requirements to ensure the project meets company safety requirements.
  • Oversee contractor or subcontractor punch list activities to meet project closeout requirements.
  • Report subcontractor and vendor budget performance and change management.
  • Provide flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
Mentorship
  • May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge‑sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.
Skills and Competencies
  • Proficient in construction management and project management techniques and practices.
  • Strong skills in managing contractor or subcontractor activities, monitoring progress, and managing schedules.
  • Excellent understanding of scope definition and ability to manage changes effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of contracts.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
Experience
  • Typically, a minimum of 5 years of related work experience in construction management or related field.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Professional experience specifically in the design and construction administration of municipal infrastructure, water, and wastewater facilities.
Education
  • A Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent experience is required.
Preferred Education
  • PE in New York or ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months of hire preferred.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) through CMAA preferred.
Salary Range

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may vary depending on skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location C: $102,000 - $140,000
