Hiring for Our Client:
General Contractor and Construction Management Firm About Our Client

Our client is a well-established General Contractor and Construction Management firm specializing in ground-up construction, interior fit-outs, and high-end projects across multiple sectors, including hospitality, residential, retail, technology, financial services, healthcare, education, and commercial office spaces. They are looking to expand their team and require an experienced Estimator to join their team in New York City.

Position Overview

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects, with a strong emphasis on ground-up construction and interior renovations. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in construction estimating, particularly in "bricks and sticks" estimating, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, architects, subcontractors, and vendors to develop competitive and well-informed bids.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and proposals for a variety of construction projects, including ground-up developments, interior renovations, and data centers.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project requirements to determine materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and scope information.
  • Develop and maintain cost databases, historical pricing records, and unit cost trends to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings, bid reviews, and value engineering efforts to optimize project costs.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations for alternative construction methods or materials.
  • Ensure estimates align with project schedules, client expectations, and budget constraints.
  • Review and analyze subcontractor bids, ensuring completeness and compliance with project requirements.
  • Assist in contract negotiations, scope review, and change order management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and material price fluctuations to refine estimating strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on ground-up construction, interior renovations, and data centers.
  • Proven expertise in "bricks and sticks" estimating, including structural, architectural, and MEP systems.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Timberline, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex plans and specifications.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience working with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
What Our Client Offers
  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and more.
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile projects with a leading construction firm in NYC.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment that fosters professional growth and development.
