Location: New York
Senior Cost Manager / Senior Estimator
SBI Consultants LLC is a leading engineering consulting firm with over 20 years of experience. The role is part of the cost management and estimating consulting line of business, interacting with architects, engineers, developers and owners.
Responsibilities- Lead the Project Engineers/Estimators team, manage daily activities and ensure compliance with technical estimating standards.
- Create budgets and estimates, perform accurate quantity take-offs, and oversee the complete estimating process from concept to GMP.
- Maintain and update the internal historical cost database, ensuring timely insertion of actual project cost data.
- Establish and enforce standardized procedures, QA/QC of submitted estimates and cost models.
- Review, estimate and reconcile change orders.
- Act as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication.
- Solicit subcontractor and supplier data, manage bid processes, and assure accurate and timely proposals.
- Perform quantity survey and pricing efforts, review critical project conditions, schedules and scopes.
- Monitor construction and material cost trends, and develop Value Engineering solutions to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors and clients.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited university.
- 10+ years of progressive industry experience, 3+ years of team management.
- Experience managing processes, projects, and teams throughout all project stages from estimating to closeout.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, ability to work fast‑paced with multiple strict deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and identify scope gaps.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with CAD or Building Modeling applications.
- Proficiency in project management, scheduling, and estimating software.
- Advanced use of Bluebeam Revu.
- Full understanding of ERP modules related to construction management.
