Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Estimator role based in New York, NY. The Estimator will prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for commercial and institutional projects, including new construction, renovations, fit-outs, and restorations. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include reviewing design documents, specifications, and addenda; analyzing subcontractor and supplier proposals; and developing accurate budgets and bid packages. The Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and preconstruction teams to clarify scopes of work, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and maintain estimating databases and historical cost records.
The role also involves attending pre‑bid meetings, supporting value engineering efforts, and providing timely estimate updates as designs and project requirements evolve.
- Demonstrated experience in construction estimating for commercial, institutional, or healthcare projects, including quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
- Proficiency with estimating and take-off software, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant construction management tools.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, subcontractor trades, and materials pricing.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings, specifications, and contract documents with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Solid organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to handle multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Relevant experience in the New York metropolitan construction market is highly beneficial.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
