Commercial Driver / Construction Laborer
McNelly Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a dependable and hardworking Commercial Driver / Construction Laborer to join our team. This position combines driving responsibilities with hands‑on construction support and is ideal for someone who is comfortable both behind the wheel and on an active job site.
Position OverviewThe successful candidate will have two primary responsibilities depending on the daily operational needs of the company.
Driver ResponsibilitiesOn days when the company truck is scheduled for use, you will report to our shop to assist with loading construction materials, tools, and equipment. You will then safely transport these materials to the assigned project site throughout New York City and the surrounding areas.
Upon arrival, your responsibilities will include:
- Unloading materials and equipment.
- Assisting the project team with assigned construction tasks.
- Ensuring materials and equipment are handled safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the vehicle.
On days when driving duties are not required, you will be assigned to one of our active job sites to assist our field crews. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- General construction labor.
- Material handling and equipment operation.
- Scaffold assembly and dismantling.
- Site preparation and cleanup.
- Assisting skilled tradesmen as directed.
- Performing other tasks necessary to support the successful completion of the project.
- Valid driver’s license with extensive experience driving throughout New York City
. - CDL is NOT required.
- Active OSHA 40-Hour Certification (required).
- Experience operating commercial work trucks is preferred.
- Comfortable driving in heavy traffic, congested urban areas, and construction environments.
- Ability to safely perform reverse parking, parallel parking, and maneuver larger vehicles in tight spaces.
- Basic understanding of vehicle inspections and routine maintenance.
- Previous construction experience and familiarity with common construction tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team.
