Superintendent
- Commercial & Industrial Construction | Long Island/Tri-State General Contractor | Full-Time
Hauppauge, NY (Long Island / NYC coverage) | On-Site | Competitive Salary + Full Benefits
A well-established Long Island/Tri-State General Contractor - 50 years in business, family-run, and still growing - is looking for a Superintendent to take full field ownership of their next wave of projects. Their portfolio spans industrial, multifamily, self-storage, education, healthcare, and retail/hospitality work, with a strong reputation for precision delivery and long-standing repeat client relationships. This is a diversified, mid-size CM/GC firm with a steady, varied pipeline - you won't be running the same building type twice in a row.
The core of the work is ground-up and renovation construction across multiple sectors - the kind of environment where a Superintendent who can adapt across project types, rather than specialize narrowly, genuinely stands out.
The projects you'll run:
- Industrial and manufacturing facilities - warehouses, distribution, and specialized production spaces
- Corporate and commercial office builds
- Educational facilities, often on active or occupied campuses
- Self-storage developments
- Healthcare and life sciences projects
- Retail and hospitality builds
- Multifamily and residential developments, including affordable and market-rate housing
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience as a Senior Construction Superintendent on commercial, industrial, or institutional projects
- Background with a GC, construction manager, or developer-side construction team
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures, codes, and quality/safety standards
- Working knowledge of Auto Desk Build a plus; strong general Microsoft Office skills expected
- OSHA trained, with a genuine commitment to a proactive safety culture
- A field leader who runs a disciplined jobsite while staying approachable to trades, subs, and the project team
What the role looks like:
- Own field operations from mobilization through final turnover
- Maintain daily jobsite logs and produce 3-week look-aheads
- Run weekly foreman meetings and schedule subcontractors/vendors to hold the project timeline
- Perform quality control, inspecting work against contract documents and specifications
- Collaborate directly with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and vendors to keep the project moving
- Work alongside the Sr. Project Manager on monthly requisition review
- Own site access control and day-to-day site management
- Communicate and reinforce a genuine safety-first culture, including an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) program
Why this role stands out:
- 50 years in business, family-run, and still growing - real stability in an industry that doesn't always offer it
- A genuinely diverse pipeline - industrial, multifamily, self-storage, education, healthcare, retail - so there's no downtime and no monotony
- A company built on stated values - transparency, integrity, focus, tenacity, reliability - that consistently shows up in how projects are run
- Full benefits package: health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and professional development support
- Genuine on-site autonomy - this contractor trusts its Superintendents to run their jobs
