Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate bid pricing for heavy civil projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and addenda to fully understand project scope and requirements
- Build, maintain, and update labor, material, and equipment cost data (HCSS)
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor quotations
- Develop pricing for bids, alternates, and change orders
- Review estimates for constructability, risk, and value-engineering opportunities
- Support and lead proposal submissions, including design-build pursuits
- Develop and manage bid schedules, ensuring all milestones are met
- Maintain the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of heavy civil estimating experience and 7+ years in construction overall
- Strong understanding of contracts, bid processes, and insurance requirements
- Experience bidding with NYC agencies and within the tri-state market
- Design-build experience is a plus
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting heavy civil drawings and specifications
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with HCSS, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and/or B2W preferred
- Familiarity with subcontractor scopes and vendor coordination
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to perform under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
