Starr Industries is a growing union construction company specializing in scaffolding, hoisting, and access solutions for commercial construction projects throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to serve as the primary point of contact between our field operations and office staff.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys communicating with multiple teams, and takes pride in keeping projects organized from start to finish.

Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager will support the Director of Field Operations by coordinating communication between the office and field, tracking project documentation, following up on outstanding items, and ensuring projects remain organized and on schedule.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, highly organized, resourceful, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while working closely with field personnel, project managers, and office staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison between field personnel and the office.
  • Support the Director of Field Operations with daily administrative and project-related tasks.
  • Monitor and manage emails, ensuring timely follow-up and communication.
  • Maintain and track project documentation, employee onboarding and hiring paperwork, timesheets, and other required records.
  • Communicate regularly with foremen regarding project status, manpower, scheduling, safety documentation, and outstanding items.
  • Assist with the preparation, tracking, and submission of Change Orders (COs).
  • Coordinate with project managers, estimators, payroll, accounting, and other internal departments.
  • Track outstanding items and follow up to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project files and documentation.
  • Schedule meetings, inspections, deliveries, and site visits as needed.
  • Assist with project scheduling and overall project coordination.
  • Help ensure projects move efficiently by maintaining clear communication between the office and field.
  • Perform additional administrative and project support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in construction project coordination, project management, construction administration, or a related role is preferred.
  • Experience working in commercial construction and/or union construction is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction documentation, including Change Orders (COs), project paperwork, and field documentation.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and excellent follow-through.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience with Procore, Sage, or other construction management software is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with field employees, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and internal staff.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
