Senior Estimator (Heavy Highway - GC)

Location:

Farmington, NY

A premier, full-service Heavy Highway General Contractor specializing in road construction, paving, and large-scale utility installations. We are looking for an experienced professional to join a stable, high-impact team where long-term tenure is the standard. Whether you are a career Estimator or a Project Manager ready to bring your field expertise into a strategic pre-construction role, we want someone who truly understands the "nuts and bolts" of civil work.

Must-Haves:

  • GC

    Experience:

    Direct experience working for a General Contractor in the heavy highway/civil sector.
  • Software Expertise:
    Proficiency in B2W Estimate, Plan Swift, and AGTEK.
  • Regional Standards:
    Familiarity with NYSDOT/NYSTA construction standards and MWBE/DBE/SDVOB reporting.
  • Bidding Capability:
    Proven track record of managing accurate takeoffs and complex civil bids.

Preferred

Skills:

  • Education:

    BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Field-to-Office Transition:
    Project Managers with deep field experience looking to transition into estimating.
  • Specialized Scope:
    Experience with water/wastewater treatment plants and pump stations.
  • Industry Connections:
    Established relationships with regional subcontractors and suppliers.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary:
    Up to $150,000 (depending on experience).
  • Retirement:
    Up to 6% 401(k) match.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurate Bidding:
    Prepare complex civil construction bids for projects up to $25 million.
  • Quantity Takeoffs:
    Ensure precise material lists and bid quantities using industry software.
  • Compliance:
    Manage subcontractor quotes and complete GFE packages for waivers.
  • Collaboration:

    Lead bid reviews with Senior Management and facilitate smooth project handoffs to field teams.
  • Site Engagement:
    Attend pre-bid meetings and visit sites to ensure a complete understanding of project scope.
